To both people;

What was your hardest challenge when writing these scripts ?

What pushed you and motivated you to finish them and carry on revising and updating them ?

Ask them about the way they are portrayed in public. Ikonboard was way too hyped in my opinion so ask them why they claimed Ikonobard was the greatest thing of all time yet when they moved to ibForums, they then said that iB was poorly coded and tough on servers. (can we trust them?)

Ask YaBB, about the resource hogging of the Perl version and the fact that they have to try to outgrow that reputation now. (what is their focus for future)

Two tougher questions for both of them I am sure.

I'd like to know more about those benchmarks as well. Ikonboard posted benchmarks which showed the new ibforums as the fastest, followed by YaBB SE, then vB and then phpBB.

Why are you interviewing Matthew Mecham about ikonboard when he's not affiliated with it anymore. Shuold you just stick to Invision Board with Matt and get another rep from ikonboard to interview for ikonboard.

I think matt is a great idea to interview

Ib was a great board! (although now it has been spoiled since he left)

what i would like to know is...

How hard is it going open source, financially how did you cope (directed at both but remember when matt joined with JEG)

I am going to ask Matt about Ikonboard, but will be specific about ibforums, as that will be the main target for this.

na its never been open sourse (its free though)

Ikonboard (while Matt developed it) and Invision Board both have never been Open Source. Both Ikonboard (while Matt developed it) and Invision Board are free and under their own license agreement.

No, Ikonboard has never been Open Source. Its always been free but free != Open Source.

My question would be: Why wasn't Invision Board/Ikonboard released under and open source licence?

James, I'm pretty sure Matt released under GPL when it first came out (what, two years ago now?)

Here's what was stated in the readme.txt file of the original Ikonboard v0.9: The license messages appeared the same way through the iB2 distributions, I believe.
